Panel discussions, inclusive concerts, workshops and landscaping events: International Inclusion Days ended in Silifka

From 1 to 5 October, the International Days of Inclusion were held in Silifke within the framework of the Sails of the Spirit 2021 project. Speakers and participants from Russia (Sevastopol, Moscow, Yekaterinburg, Arkhangelsk, Krasnoyarsk, Chita), Germany, Sweden, Ukraine, Latvia, Turkey were engaged in the development of inclusive culture for five days.

The International Inclusion Days program included panel discussions, including in a hybrid format, on the topics «Scenarios of effective inclusive interaction «Sails of the spirit «From inclusive games to sports heights», «Path to inclusion» and others. For three mornings in a row, the participants gathered to discuss the development of inclusion in society.

Also, within the framework of the International Days of Inclusion, a regatta and an exit to the sea with representatives of various organizations from Mersin, Silifke, Antalya took place, an eco-action was held with a presentation of an art object made of collected garbage. In the camp itself, where the participants of the Days of Inclusion lived, a gardening action was organized with the participation of representatives of the Akkuyu Nuclear JSC. The entire third day, together with the participants, was spent by Lutfi Sarici, an expert of the regional communications department of Akkuyu Nuclear JSC, one of the founders of the nuclear industry in Turkey.

Metin Unel (trainer and organizer of events of the Society of the Deaf in Mersin and the Youth Sports Club of the Hearing Disabled in Mersin) – one of the participants of the expedition “Sails of the Spirit 2021”, organized master classes on inclusive and adaptive sports – basketball wheelchair volleyball, sitting volleyball and mixed team volleyball with deaf athletes, handball blindfold.

On the last day, the inclusive crew, together with other participants of the Inclusion Days, visited two museums – the Maritime and Archaeological, from where they made a tour in a hybrid format. The participants ended the events with a large inclusive international round dance, where first Russian and then Turkish movements were performed.

The musicians participating in the project, Mert Sahin (a blind violinist, Turkey), Vladimir Bush (a blind rock musician, Russia) and a choir of blind musicians (Turkey), performed at the closing of the International Inclusion Days. The Chairman of the Public Chamber of Disabled People of Akdeniz District of Mersin Soner Demir, Head of the Regional Department of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in Mersin Okkesh Demir and Chairman of the Society of People with Orthopedic Disabilities of Silifke Nurettin Atesh expressed their wishes for further cooperation.
